wag! is a design system that was developed for the fictional airline AirWAN, which services other regions of Japan from its main hub destination, Hokkaido. AirWAN’s name was derived from the Japanese onomatopoeia for a dog barking. We were drawn to the Hokkaido Inu, which serves as the main muse for this airline.

This project challenged me both as a creative thinker, and as a logical thinker. With Figma's introduction of variables, and the various updates that they've had, I was constantly learning something new. Things were always getting faster, more efficient, smooth. It really forced me to stay on top of the tech and push it's (and my own) possibilities.

the wag design system
wag! and its corresponding travel application were built in Figma. Explore the components and pieces that contribute to the flexibility and efficiency of having a well-built design system.
I wanted to embody the enjoyment of our favorite fluffy friends to guide the user through an otherwise typical, sometimes overwhelming process.
unfortunately, this project required lots of "pre-work" before we could dive into the building. I spent time planning out flight routes, pricing, times, and variable conventions. We were also tasked with completing this project through a series of 4 two-week sprints, so I focused my energy in specific tasks throughout the weeks.
the nature of the sprints meant that I was quickly testing and building different options to see what would work the best. So here are some of the "ugly but functional" early prototypes that helped me get to my final solutions.
